"It has been very clear to us that our heritage is not only represented by forts, castles and ancient buildings, but by spiritual customs and traditions, by science, art and literature, transmitted by one generation to another. The real preservation of heritage will not be accomplished unless we understand this, and cherish it."
His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said
In a globally changing world, preserving one’s identity and culture becomes an utmost priority. The preservation of the country’s cultural heritage ensures a linkage with its past achievements and future aspirations. The Omani Studies Center was established with this concern in mind. Modern scientific and academic knowledge and an understanding of the historical, cultural and social specifics of Oman are among the valuable services that Sultan Qaboos University offers to the Omani society and the world.
