Talk Highlights Japanese Government Scholarships

The Office of International Cooperation at SQU, in association with the Embassy of Japan in the Sultanate, organized a presentation about “Japanese Government Scholarships and Student Life in Japan” at the seminar hall of the College of Economics and Political Science at SQU. The event was held under the patronage of H.H. Sayyidah Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said, SQU Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation.
Addressing the gathering, of H.H. Sayyidah Dr. Mona elaborated on the efforts of the Office of International Cooperation towards providing students with opportunities for higher studies in different countries, and Japan in particular, facilitated by scholarships and other means of financial support offered by the Sultanate and the host countries. Hideaki Yamamoto, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan, highlighted the long-standing cooperation between SQU and the Embassy. He called upon the Omani students to make use of the opportunities for higher studies and research offered by various academic and research institutions in Japan.
Tsuyoshi Hirata, Cultural Attaché, Embassy of Japan, presented about Japanese government scholarships available for Omani students. He said that the Embassy of Japan has begun the scholarship application process for Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship 2018 for research students. “The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan offers scholarships to international students who wish to study in graduate courses at Japanese universities as research students (either non-degree or degree students) under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program.
Dr. Adil Abdullah Al Mahdouri, Associate Researcher at SQU and former scholarship students gave a talk on student life in Japan.
