Oman is situated on the eastern side of the Arabian peninsula and is famous for its varied landscape which includes spectacular mountains and fiord lands in the north, sand seas and lush green mountains in the south.

The 1700km coastline is noted for its rich fisheries and turtle beaches. The maritime connection has ensured that Oman has had a long and interesting history reflected in abundant archaeological remains. In the ancient world. Oman was a major source of copper and frankincense and in the 16th century Omanis founded an empire along the East African coast.
