General Transfer Criteria to SQU

  1.  The applicant must be an Omani citizen and his/her age should not exceed 25 years.
  2.  The Higher Educational Institution must be recognized.
  3. Applicant transferring from Government Higher Education Institutions must provide a ‘No Objection’ letter, and for those under scholarships, must provide a ‘No Objection’ letter from their sponsor.
  4.  If the cumulative GPA of applicants are identical, priority will be given to those who have the highest percentage in the General Education Diploma.
  5.  Applicant must not have discontinued their study for more than one year.
  6. Student will be admitted to the college and not a specific major. Admission in a given major will depend on the student's ability to fulfill the designated pre-requisite courses.
  7.  Transfer applicants may be granted credit for up to one half of the requirements of the program to which they are accepted, provided the courses are passed with a minimum of a ‘C’ grade or its equivalent.
  8. Students should either provide a certificate of completion for the foundation program or present evidence that the foundation syllabus has been covered in their previous program.
  9.  The fulfillment of the following requirements for each college:

Medicine & Health Sciences 3.5 Minimum of 60 credit hours from the applicant's program (full-time study)

Student's should exit the English test set by the university or submit a valid English Proficiency test certificate: 500 points in the International TOEFL test or its equivalent OR Band 5 in the Academic IELTS test. English Language and Literature (College of Arts & Social Sciences) 547points in the International TOEFL test or its equivalent OR Band 6 in the Academic IELTS test.

Nursing 3.3 2 2 Min. ‘B’ in 2 courses from the following: Chemistry or Biochemistry, Biology, and Physics (without repeating)
Agricultural & Marine Sciences 3 - Min. ‘B’ in 2 courses from the following: Chemistry, Biology Math and Physics
Engineering 4 4 Min. ‘B’ in 2 courses from the following: Chemistry, Physics and Math
Science 7 6 Min. ‘B’ in 2 courses from the following: Chemistry, Physics Biology and Math
Commerce & Economics 10 4 Min. ‘B’ in 3 courses from the following: Principle of Management, Principles of Microeconomics, Introductory Financial Accounting, Business Statistics I, Macroeconomics
Arts ( English Literature and Tourism) 4 2 English Literature: Min. ‘B’ in all English courses Tourism: Min. 'C+' in all Tourism major courses or its equivalent
Law 4 - Min. ‘B’ in the following courses: Introduction to Law, Sources of Obligation, The General Penal Law
