the sultanate of oman joined the international mathematics union (imu) as an associate member in august 2010.

one of the requirements for becoming a member in imu is having a body which acts as link between the union and all institutions specialized

in mathematics in the associate country, the council of ministers of oman accordingly issued a qarar to form  the committee of math experts 

in the sultanate” representing different bodies concerned about mathematics in the sultanate currently known as ``oman mathematics committee.
