Welcome Message:

Language is the mark of a nation’s existence, the symbol of its unity and identity, and a component of its heritage and intellectual production. That is why language commands a great deal of interest in universities and scientific institutions in terms of teaching and the relentless effort to develop it. The close association of Arabic language with our Islamic creed has a clear impact in raising its status among other languages, because of its unique features known only to God, and its ability to maintain our heritage and civilization throughout the ages, which increases our responsibility towards it. This has been the pursuit of the Department of Arabic Language since its inception ( with the first year of the establishment of the College of Arts and Social Sciences) in 1987, taking the principle of science for society and focusing its programmes on training its students for a variety of roles in society particularly in the areas of education, scientific research and media. The Department is also keen on training and encouraging its students to pursue graduate studies in various branches of language and literature. The Department of Arabic Language is considered the most overarching department within the university, not only in terms of the number of courses offered, but  also in terms of the number of students catered for  each semester, since its services are not limited to the students of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, but also the scope of these services spread out to include all the colleges of the university by offering the teaching of a university requirement, some electives, introductory courses, and through teaching specialized Arabic Language courses to the students of the College of Education and some specialized courses for students of some departments in the college of Arts and Social Sciences.

Dr. Al Hawas Massoudi
