Whatever the course or program in English, whether it be in language, linguistics, literature or translation, the present high quality of the Department can only be assured by preserving its academic standards and integrity. This means that the faculty must be of international standing in all aspects of the discipline, both in terms of pedagogy and research, with the latest resources at its disposal. It also means that the level of student is such that they can cope successfully with the rigorous demands made upon them during their studies and afterwards. It is with confidence that we will continue to maintain an academic environment capable of producing English graduates well-equipped to meet contemporary challenges, while at the same time serving the different needs of the Omani society.
