Student Professional Development

Main Goal

To prepare students to become top managers and responsible leaders in support of Oman's national priorities and its role in peaceful world development.  

 Main Tasks 
1. Provide and Manage Internships. 
2. Provide International Experience opportunities. 
3. Provide Professional Skills and leadership development opportunities and activities. 
4. Manage student-run professional and community service activities.  

Main Resources 
The Assistant Dean Office for Training and Community Services consist of the assistant dean for training and community service and three staff members.

Area Two

Training

 Main Goal

To advance the College in its mission to serve as an exemplar source for developing specialized training and expertise related to the advance of Oman's national economic, business and government priorities.  To also support student, alumni, corporate, and community educational needs through useful training activities.

 Main Tasks
1. Work with SQU Training and Community Service Office to identify, develop and offer training opportunities that support the greater development of Omani government agencies, companies, organizations and other interested parties. 
2. Develop existing and new internship place and work experiences for CEPS students that align with their majors, national priorities and international opportunities.
3. Work with CEPS faculty to develop their educational expertise and skills in alignment with local training needs and consultancy opportunities.
4. Raise greater public awareness of CEPS as a leading national and regional source for greater business and government development and training. 
5. Perform an annual evaluation of the summer internship experience.
6. Allocate student supervisors during the internship.  

7. Act as focal points for summer internship within departments.  
8. Organize events to connect with current/potential internship host organizations.  

9. Any other duties assigned by the ADTCS.

Main Resources

The committee is chaired by the Assistant Dean for Training and Community Services. Committee membership is made up of representatives from all departments.  Calls for meetings are as required and called up-on by the Assistant Dean for Training & Community Service.  Usually, at least one meeting after the summer internship to address and review the past internship experience and any other issues.  The other meeting is in the spring semester to plan for the coming internship and the expected work required from departments including department lectures.

Area Three

External Relations

Main Goal

To manage and advance CEPS' public connections and relations especially related to its activities with business, government and other external entities.

Main Tasks 
1. Explore collaboration opportunities locally and internationally according to the strategic direction of the CEPS and SQU. 
2. Prepare and carry-out plans for implementation the collaboration plan of CEPS. 
3. Conduct employer survey every three years evaluating graduates and interns from the prospective of the employers. 
4. Organize alumni gathering every three years and connect with alumni to update them with new programs and initiative of CEPS. 
5.  Facilitate workshop/training requests from the industry and government.   
6. Act as focal points for external relations within departments. 
7. Organize events to connect with external stakeholders. 
8. Any other duties assigned by the ADTCS.  

Main Resources
