The Center for Educational Technology (CET)  provides support for teaching and learning through its activities to aid in academic professional development, open and flexible learning, and educational applications of technology.

Specifically , the CET aims to :

• provide comprehensive educational technology support for the teaching and learning at SQU,
• encourage and support quality practice and appropriate applications of technology in teaching and learning,
• encourage and support research concerned with educational technology and its educational applications.

Mission

• To provide cost-effective, responsive and efficient range of centralised audio-visual services to the University.  To ensure that production meets the academic standards of departments. 
• To promote the creative use of audio-visual software and techniques in the dissemination and presentation of knowledge and improvement of communication skills. 
• Through direct involvement in teaching, training, consultancy, evaluation and research, CET will contribute to the attainment of the University's aims of quality assurance and serve the community effectively.

Objectives 

• Contribute to the University programmes of staff development by offering workshops and consultancy in the fields of communication skills and instructional media and design.
• Support faculty to develop quality e-learning materials through  training, consultancy and technical expertise.
• Assist colleges to teach/train students of relevant courses.
• Co-operate with colleges and centres in conducting research and the evaluation of materials relevant to educational media and design; and implement their results.
• Provide a wide range of audiovisual services and facilities to assist academic, technical and administrative staff in developing and producing audiovisual materials and packages.
• Co-operate with other academic services and colleges to develop multimedia and interactive learning techniques and packages.
• Provide photographic, graphic, video and audio coverage of major scientific/academic events sponsored by the University.
• Administer, supervise and maintain all audio-visual equipment and workshops in the University.
• Contribute to a comprehensive development of the educational process in the Sultanate by training/updating Omani teachers in the use of educational technology.
