The study of Natural Resource Economics is the study of economic principles and concepts with their application to agricultural and natural resource issues.
As the Sultanate diversifies its economy beyond the petroleum sector, the agricultural and fisheries sector is an important element of that diversification. The private sector of the agricultural and fisheries industries will increasingly look for graduates who have a background in economics and business to complement their knowledge of science and technology.
A major goal of the department is to assist students to meet that demand by preparing them with the economic knowledge and problem solving skills that will be required for productive private sector employment.
