The aim of this program is to prepare teachers of the Arabic language for basic and secondary schools through both theoretical study and practical training.
Graduates of the B.Ed (Arabic) program must complete 78 credit hours of specialized Arabic Language courses, in addition to 18 hours of general cultural courses (University requirements) and 36 hours of curriculum, teaching methods, and psychology (College requirements).
The program focuses on preparing students through exposing them to as many types of curricula as possible, supplemented by field placement in both basic and secondary schools. Extensive use is also made of the teaching laboratory facilities available in the College.
Reflecting the concerns of the Ministry of Education, the sultanate’s schools are currently in great need of qualified teachers of Arabic and places are available for graduates in this discipline in both basic and secondary schools, as well as in the private sector.
Arabic Education Programme:
The programme aims to prepare teachers to teach Arabic in Basic and Post-Basic Education schools. It provides student teachers with academic courses in Arabic language and its literature, as well as educational courses (e.g. Curriculum and Methods of Teaching, Educational Psychology, Foundations of Education, and Instructional Technology). These are supplemented by practice in labs and microteaching sessions. Besides, they practice teaching in Basic and Post-Basic education schools.
