This B.Ed program aims to prepare qualified Art teachers to work at the pre-University level by providing them with a thorough grounding in a range of courses according to three specializations. The following courses are offered: Introduction to Art Education, Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Printing and Textiles, Elements of Design, Sculpture, Metalwork, Omani Handicrafts, and Aesthetic Appreciation as well as extra-curricular sessions and independent projects.
Background courses are also offered in: Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, Personal Guidance, School Curricula, and Teaching Methods.
Graduates must complete a minimum of 132 credit hours, consisting of 78 hours of Departmental requirements, 36 hours of Educational courses (College requirements) and 18 hours of general cultural courses (University requirements). In addition to working as Art teachers, graduates in this discipline may find employment in social and youth welfare program, in the media, or in consultancy or cultural services.
