This B.Ed program aims to prepare academically and educationally qualified teachers to teach English in Omani schools.
The program develops practical skills in methods of teaching through micro-teaching sessions and educational media laboratories.
A minimum of 132 credit hours is required, including 78 hours of specialized academic instruction in English Language and Literature, 36 hours of educational courses (College requirements) and 18 hours of general cultural courses (University requirements).
A graduate of this program can expect career opportunities in both government and private educational sectors where demand for English teachers is strong.
English Education Programme:
The programme aims to prepare teachers to teach English in Basic and Post-Basic education schools. It builds student teachers’ competence in the four language skills, grammar and English literature. In order for student teachers to possess competencies which enable them to teach these areas, they study various educational courses (e.g. Curriculum and Methods of Teaching, Educational Psychology, Foundations of Education, and Instructional Technology). These are supplemented by practice in labs and microteaching sessions. Besides, they practice teaching in Basic and Post-Basic education schools.
