Program title: M.Ed. in Curriculum and Methods of Teaching Islamic Studies.
Degree: M.Ed. in Education in Curriculum and Methods of Teaching Islamic Studies.

Date of Launch: 1992
Objectives:
a) Conduct research in the field of Islamic Education in order to develop educational work in educational institutions and the Ministry of Education.
b) Diagnose problems related to Islamic Education concepts and methods of teaching Islamic sciences.
c) Analyze and evaluate Islamic Education syllabi of Basic and Post-Basic education schools with reference to findings of published research.
d) Analyze and evaluate curriculum theories’ vision with reference to the universe, God, Man and life and its effect on school curriculum design, development and evaluation.
e) Implement modern teaching methods in the field of Islamic Education and bringing out the suitability of some methods of teaching Islamic Education.
f) Train students in criticizing, analyzing and evaluating Islamic Education syllabi in Basic and Post-Basic Education schools in the light of values in the Quran and Sunna.

d) Show awareness of the major models of second language acquisition and their implications in ELT curriculum design and teaching.
e) Identify the different social factors influencing decision making in ELT curriculum design
f) Identify the major problems involved in teaching English as a foreign language in Oman and ways of investigating them
g) Show awareness of the different ways of student assessment including alternative assessment and the washback effect of tests on teaching and learning a foreign language
