• To prepare highly-qualified teachers to teach in various specializations at both basic and secondary levels in keeping with the highest pedagogical standards, in order to meet the increasing demand for education in the Sultanate.
• To train its students in up-to-date teaching methods and foster their Arab and Islamic values.
• To undertake educational and psychological research in order to enhance the practice of teaching, and encourage academic research and life-long learning to enable specialists to keep up with the latest developments in their field and make them aware of the needs of society.
• To keep abreast with pedagogical and technological advances and respond positively to developments in educational and cultural programs in Colleges of Education in the region and abroad.
• To participate with the Ministry of Education in developing all aspects of the educational system such as teaching methods, educational media, systems of evaluation and examinations, textbook writing as well as organizing in-service courses for teachers at different levels.
• To pool experience and co-ordinate efforts in the field of educational and psychological research with educational institutions at regional and international levels.
• To enhance the quality of instruction in the College and in the University and utilize the findings of research studies to improve the quality of teaching programs.
• To serve the community by participating in educational and cultural activities and offering technical consultation to educational and social organizations in the fields of education and psychology.
• To enrich the cultural and intellectual life of the University by offering a variety of classroom and extra-mural activities.
• To participate in conferences and seminars in order to foster collaborative educational research.
