Since its establishment in 1991, the Department of Art education in the Collegeof Education at Sultan Qaboos University has strived to meet the growing needsof the community it serves. This service in the field of Art Education extendsthough all the stages of primary, preparatory and secondaryeducation.
The department began with its first graduating class of 34students, and has produced 14 classes to date (2008); its most recent class iscomposed of 131 students.
The Department of Art Education in the Collegeof Education has strived to excel in teaching Art courses that make use ofcontemporary modern methodology. In doing so, the Department concentrates ondeveloping an artistic character linked to its Omani heritage and richcivilization, while acknowledging the importance of Islamic and Arab values.
