Doctoral Programs

The College of Engineering, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), offers doctoral programs in six disciplines:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Chemical and Process Engineering
  • Electrical and Computer Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Petroleum Engineering

The prime objective is to produce research scholars and academicians of high caliber who will be capable of delivering quality research to support the research initiatives at national, regional and international level. The program will also prepare its Ph.D. students to pursue academic career in other tertiary educational institutions. There is a strong link between the postgraduate programs and College’s research activities. The College currently has many research projects funded by HM Research Grant, external research contracts and internal research grants. These projects have steadily grown over the years. Beginning, this year, the College is gearing itself to work towards the strategic research objectives of Oman. The faculty members in the College have extensive experience in research with breadth and depth and substantial graduate student supervision. The College is adequately equipped with laboratories and research facilities. In addition, the cooperation with local and international universities and research institutions adds another dimension to its postgraduate programs.

The programs follow the existing SQU Postgraduate Academic Regulations. Admission is on competitive basis and is open to both national and international students. Candidates have to register on a full-time basis. Students would pay fees and/or might be supported from a faculty member’s research grant/contract or scholarship. For admission requirements please visit the following link to the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
