My present  Job title is Physics Lab. Supervisor in Physics Department ,But my actual main Job is Mechanical Engineer.  From 1988 to 2003 I worked as Physics Technician in Physics laboratories as technician. After I awarded HND In Mechanical Engineering in 2003, I worked as Mechanical Engineer at college of Science General Mechanical  Workshop. In 1996 I obtained a Certificate of First Aid and Basic Life support organized by  Sultan Qaboos University Hospital . In January 1996 I obtained a certificate   on commendation for Professional Development (use and  Application of Science Instrumentation : principle and Practices) by Sultan Qaboos University and University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. In 1992 I obtained a certificate  by Linde Cryogenics Ltd in Satisfactorily completion  of the  LINIT  Operation and Maintenance Course.      In Jun 2004 I obtained certificate acknowledgement  from Stirling Cryogenics & Refrigeration BV Netherlands’ as    Maintenance Engineer  in stirling Cryogenic  and Refrigeration. Awarded certificate of excellence  for year  2005 from the active students  community (CSSS) of college science at Sultan Qaboos University to my supervisor physics group.

  • Servicing and maintaining  Equipment’s liquid nitrogen and Issuing Liquid nitrogen for the University

Hands on Experience, Training and Technical Tools

My research interest is in Low level gamma radiation in different type of materials. I have hand on, Sodium Iodide detector, gamma spectroscopy, X-ray florescence and Mossbauer spectroscopy techniques. I have attended certain number of courses in Radiation Protection fields such as organizing and the establishment of a national monitoring program for the control of radioactive sources, from 18-22 December 2010 in Muscat, Post graduate educational course on radiation protection and safety radiation sources organized by IAEA from 11 Feb-24 June 2010 in Syria, Applications of radiation and radiation protection safety from 11 Feb-15 Mar 2007 in Egypt and others.
At Sultan Qaboos University, I have taken a first- Aid course in 2010 organized by the centre for staff development.

  • Assistance of academic Staff, MSc students and final year students in their researches through the research laboratories.

Hands on Experience, Training and Technical Tools

I have been working for the Sultan Qaboos University (College of Science) since 1987, after a two years diploma course in Science (Physics). I was the first technical staff in the Department of Physics, so I had to opportunity to get hands on experience in almost every section in the department. I have also been granted by the university, the opportunity to be trained in several aspects locally and internationally.
I moved into electronics during my HND training and afterwards in the Physics Department. At the beginning of 1995 I was given the responsibility of the supervision and operation of the (College of Science Electronics Workshop). Since then, and after my B-Eng. training, I have been carrying out, maintenance and repairs of all kinks of scientific equipment in the College of Science. I am currently the department superintendent.

  • Photocopy, scan and do other computer related works for all department staff.
  • Make sure that all printers and other office equipments of the department are ready for use and in good condition at all times.
  • Report malfunctions to the right authority for  replacement or repair.

Hands on Experience, Training and Technical Tools

My research interest is in material science. During my MSc study I have hands on many technical tools such as ball milling machine, Moussbauer and X-Ray Diffraction. I learned to analysis data using different software like WinFit, Powder Cell and Origin. At SQU, I have taken different training courses in X-ray diffraction, Radiation Monitoring and Gamma Spectroscopy Analysis.
I attended a short course on laboratory health and safety at Bahrain University during the period 20th -22nd April 2006.  
During the period 7th March - 16th April 2010 I attended a group Fellowship Training Program on Research Reactors jointly organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Eastern European Research Reactors Initiative (EERRI). The course was held in IAEA and the Atominstitut of the Vienna University of Technology (Austria), the Jozef Stefan Institute (Ljubljana-Slovenia), the Czech Technical University (Prague-Czech Republic) and Nuclear Research Institute (Rez-Czech Republic).
I had a training course on “Organizing and the establishment of a national monitoring program for the control of radioactive sources ”organized by the Office of Peaceful Nuclear technology (OPNT), Sultanate of Oman, with the collaboration of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during the period 18th – 22nd December 2010.
