Facilities

The laboratories in the Department are furnished with high quality, up-to-date equipment capable of conducting experimental work for both teaching and research purposes. Most equipment has excellent computerized data acquisition systems. Laboratories are manned by qualified technicians. The department has the following major laboratories:   Properties of Materials Lab Thermodynamics Lab Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Lab Solid Mechanics Lab Fluid Mechanics Lab Automatic Control Lab Mechanical Systems Lab Computer Applications in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Laboratory CIM Lab Drawing Lab Vibration Lab Meterology Lab       The department has two workshops equipped with a wide range of equipment, machines and tools including center lathes, milling machines, surface and cylindrical grinding, radial drill, lapping, sheet metal fabrication machines and other facilities for metallurgy, carpentry and welding. Services provided by the workshops also include design facilities and equipment for student training and research as well as fabrication of experimental setups, repair and maintenance of equipment used by students and staff.   The department also has spacious, modern and well equipped drawing halls which serves the purpose of teaching student engineering design.       Lab and workshop facilities are involved in conducting research in a wide variety of research areas that include Material science and Engineering Energy Recovery, Resources Management, Process and Chemical Engineering Fluids Mechanics and Computational Fluid Dynamics System Dynamics and Control Solar Energy and Heat Transfer Desalination Engineering Management, Ergonomics and Safety Machine Condition Monitoring and Diagnostics Manufacturing Systems and Design Solid Mechanics and Finite element Methods
