Postgraduate Studies » Transfer of Credit

Upon recommendation of the department concerned and approval by the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies and Research, a maximum of 50% of the course work credit may be transferred into a student’s postgraduate program from another postgraduate program. The department administering the postgraduate program will be charged with assessing the credit transfer equivalency. To evaluate transfer credits, departments are encouraged to evaluate course descriptions and course content and to interview students on the subject area. Academic work to be so transferred must meet the following criteria:

  1. Transfer credits must be from a recognised university or equivalent institution.
  2. The courses must appear on an official transcript.
  3. The credits must have been taken no more than 3 years before the registration date.
  4. Only B grades and above will be transferred.
  5. The courses must be demonstrated to be appropriate to the current program of study.
  6. Credits earned by correspondence do not qualify for transfer; nor do credits used in another conferred degree or postgraduate diploma.
  7. Research credit leading to the project/thesis is not transferable.
