Tasks of administration

Dean of Postgraduate Studies

  • Oversee admission and graduation of postgraduate students.
  • Oversee implementation of postgraduate programs in coordination with colleges and institutes.
  • Ensure implementation of postgraduate academic regulations and academic laws.
  • Oversee the review and evaluation of postgraduate programs in coordination with the concerned bodies.
  • Oversee marketing of postgraduate programs in coordination with the concerned bodies.
  • Oversee the administration of postgraduate scholarships.
  • Prepare the annual estimated budget for the deanship and forward it to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for postgraduate studies and research.
  • Submit the annual report on the performance of the deanship to the Deputy Vice Chancellor for postgraduate studies and research.
  •  Any other tasks assigned by the Vice Chancellor or the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

Assistant Dean of Postgraduate Studies

  • Coordinate with colleges and institutes about the mechanisms of admission and follow-up their implementation.
  • Follow up the implementation of the Postgraduate Academic Regulations.
  • Coordinate with the colleges regarding the academic affairs of postgraduate students.
  • Follow up the implementation of issues related to the supervision of postgraduate students.
  • Follow up the implementation of joint postgraduate programs between Sultan University and other higher education institutions.
  • Supervise the preparation of data relating to postgraduate students and forward them to the Dean.
  • Activate bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding on postgraduate studies.
  • Coordinate with colleges and institutes about the procedures for evaluation of Postgraduate Studies programs.
  • Coordinate with the concerned parties to get funding for postgraduate students in accordance with the governing laws and regulation.
  • Follow-up marketing of postgraduate programs.
  • Study the needs of the Omani society for postgraduate Studies.
  •  Follow-up the skills enhancement programs for postgraduate students offered at the University.
  • Submit periodic reports to the Dean about the assigned tasks.
  • Any other tasks, within capacity, assigned by the Dean.

Coordination and Follow-up Department

  • Supervise the coordination and follow-up processes at the Dean's office.
  • Work on drafting, printing and formatting letters following the required format and assisting other departments in this.
  •  Communicate with the of the departments in the deanship about the issues forwarded to them, as indicated by the Dean's directives.
  • Open files to save outgoing and incoming mails.
  • Receive, sort and forward the incoming and outgoing mail to concerned bodies at the Dean's office.
  • Receive guests at the Dean's office and complete their papers and direct them to concerned bodies at the deanship.
  • Prepare the meetings of the Dean and his assistant and provide the necessary requirements for those meetings.

The Unit of Review and Evaluation of Postgraduate Programs

  • Administers the evaluation of postgraduate programs.
  • Implemental the annual plan for evaluating of postgraduate programs.
  • Follow-up the evaluation of postgraduate programs with colleges.
  • Coordinate with the Office of Quality Assurance and those concerned with the field of internal audit.
  • Meet the requirements of the review panel in coordination with colleges.
  • Communicate with the review panels in coordination with the colleges.
  • Prepare, save the data and reports of the program review.
  • Submit the review reports to the Dean periodically.

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to computer users in the deanship.
  • Coordinate with the Computer Information Center (CIC) on the management of Student Information System, (SIS).
  • Manage the web page of the deanship.
  • Design and produce the publications of the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Issue the postgraduate students’ cards.
