Registration 

Registration Section under the Academic Affairs Department, also is responsible for following the Academic performance of Postgraduate Students. It also, provides the following services: course registration,  finalize the postponement procedures, finalize the withdrawal procedures and extension of study.                 



    

Course Registration

  • Each student should have read the 2008 Postgraduate Academic Regulations.
  • Each student should have a degree plan from his/her department.
  • Colleges should send student’s degree plan to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Register for courses or thesis online (to learn how to register online please visit the website: https://sis.squ.edu.om)
  • Pay the tuition fees online.

Thesis Registration and Defense Procedures (Master)

  • Student can register for thesis in the third semester after having competed at least 12 credits of course work.
  • Student select thesis supervisor with the assistance of program coordinator.
  • Student and supervisor propose other members of the thesis committee.
  • Thesis committee should be confirmed by the student’s Departmental Board.
  • Student complete Thesis Committee Form (DPS5) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Student should continuously register for courses or thesis every semester.
  • Fill in Thesis Progress Report (DPS8) and hand in to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies at registration time.
  • Two seminars should be given. The first seminar is held within the first two semesters of research work, and the second one is held before the thesis defense.
  • Student should complete Readiness for Thesis Defense Form (DPS 15). The form should be signed by all thesis committee members.
  • Student should complete Thesis Examining Committee Form (DPS16) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will write letters to members of the Thesis Examining Committee.
  • Conduct thesis defense.

 

Thesis Registration and Defense Procedures (PhD)

  • Student select thesis supervisor with the assistance of the department
  • Form Thesis Committee. Student and supervisor propose the members of the committee.
  • Thesis Committee should be confirmed by the student’s departmental board.
  • Student complete Thesis Committee Form (DPS5) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Student should continuously register for thesis or courses every semester (The maximum period of registration is counted from the date of first registration).
  • All course work should be completed within the first year.
  • Student should complete Thesis Progress Report Form (DPS8) and hand in to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies during registration time.
  • Two seminars should be given. First seminar is held before the end of student’s first year, and second one is held before the thesis defense.
  • Student must undertake a searching oral examination after the first seminar, but before the end of the first year. Student should then complete form (DPS 25) and send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Student should complete Readiness for Thesis Defense form (DPS 15). The form should be signed by all thesis committee members
  • Thesis Examining Committee should be formed by the department and approved by College Postgraduate Committee.
  • Student should provide four copies of the thesis, in temporary bindings, to the supervisor for distribution to Thesis Examining Committee Members.
  • Student should complete Thesis Examining Committee Form (DPS16) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies.
  • Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will write letters to members of the Thesis Examining Committee
  • Conduct thesis defense.
