Registration Procedures

Registration Procedures

 

  1. Each student should have read the 2008 Postgraduate Academic Regulations 
  2. Each student should have a degree plan from his/her department
  3. Colleges should send student’s degree plan to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies
  4. Register for courses or thesis online (to learn how to register online please visit the website: https://sis.squ.edu.om)
  5. Paying the tuition fees

Dates of Registration

The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies is pleased to announce that online registration - Fall 2016 of courses and theses shall start on Sunday 21/August/2016 and end on Thursday 08/August/2016. Classes will begin on Sunday 04/September/2016.

Postgraduate students enrolled in Postgraduate diploma, Masters & Doctoral programs must abide by relevant dates. They must follow the instructions below to facilitate the process:

 

1. Visit: http://sis.squ.edu.om to learn about the registration process.


2. Visit: Timetabling Webpage for course offering and timetable.


3. Visit: http://uas.squ.edu.om for student Username and Password.


4. Students must register according to their course load. (Full-Time: Minimum 9 Credits, Part-Time: Maximum 6 Credits).


5. No registration is allowed in the following status:

  • Academic probation.
  • Exceeded official period.
  • Did not register for last two semesters.
  • Encumbrance of textbooks.
  • Encumbrance of tuition fees.
  • Doctoral student who did not sit for Oral Examination.


6. Student must refer to his/her Program Coordinator or the Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research in his/her college during the Add & Drop period which will start on 04/September/2016  till  08/September/2016:

  • Course not offered in SIS.
  • Timetable conflicts.
  • Section full.


7. Tuition fees shall be paid electronically via the registration system within the period from 18/September/2016 till 29/September/2016.

Withdraw & Postponement dates

1. Last day of withdrawal with a (W) grade until 05/Nov/2015


2. Last day of semester postponement until 05/Nov/2015

Thesis Registration and Defense Procedures – Mast.


Thesis Registration and Defense Procedures – Master

 

1. Student can register for thesis in the third semester after having competed at least 12 credits of course work

 

2. Student select thesis supervisor with the assistance of program coordinator

 

3. Student and supervisor propose other members of the thesis committee

 

4. Thesis committee should be confirmed by the student’s Departmental Board

 

5. Student complete Thesis Committee Form (DPS5) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

6. Student should continuously register for courses or thesis every semester

 

7. Fill in Thesis Progress Report (DPS8) and hand in to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies at registration time

 

8. Two seminars should be given. The first seminar is held within the first two semesters of research work, and the second one is held before the thesis defense

 

9. Student should complete Readiness for Thesis Defense Form (DPS 15). The form should be signed by all thesis committee members

 

10. Student should complete Thesis Examining Committee Form (DPS16) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

11. Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will write letters to members of the Thesis Examining Committee

1. Student select thesis supervisor with the assistance of the department

 

2. Form Thesis Committee. Student and supervisor propose the members of the committee

 

3. Thesis Committee should be confirmed by the student’s departmental board.

 

4. Student complete Thesis Committee Form (DPS5) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

5. Student should continuously register for thesis or courses every semester (The maximum period of registration is counted from the date of first registration)

 

6. All course work should be competed within the first year

 

7. Student should complete Thesis Progress Report Form (DPS8) and hand in to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies during registration time

 

8. Two seminars should be given. First seminar is held before the end of student’s first year, and second one is held before the thesis defense

 

9. Student must undertake a searching oral examination after the first seminar, but before the end of the first year. Student should then complete form (DPS 25) and send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

10. Student should complete Readiness for Thesis Defense form (DPS 15). The form should be signed by all thesis committee members

 

11. Thesis Examining Committee should be formed by the department and approved by College Postgraduate Committee

 

12. Student should provide four copies of the thesis, in temporary bindings, to the supervisor for distribution to Thesis Examining Committee Members

 

13. Student should complete Thesis Examining Committee Form (DPS16) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

14. Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will write letters to members of the Thesis Examining Committee

 

15. Conduct thesis defense
