Program Overview

This program equips students with the necessary skills in practical translation from and into English and Arabic and provides them with a broader intellectual perspective on the subject. It consists of two years of study: the first year leads to a Postgraduate Diploma; the second year to a Master’s Degree. Students who have excelled in the Diploma year will be eligible to proceed to the Master’s program.

Diploma Requirements

  • During one academic year (i.e. Semesters I and II), students must take five core courses plus two electives.
  • To graduate, 21 credits must be completed with a minimum CGPA of 2.75.

Master’s Requirements

  • Only students with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in their Diploma courses will be allowed to proceed to the second year of the course of study.
  • Credits from the Diploma courses will be counted towards the Master's Degree provided that the minimum grade of C is obtained in the course (in accordance with SQU Postgraduate Regulations).
  • During one academic year (i.e. Semesters III and IV), students must take four core courses plus one elective (15 credits).
  • Over the two-year course of study, a total of 36 credits must be completed with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
  • A comprehensive examination must be passed at the end of the coursework in order to graduate. The comprehensive examination will be conducted as specified in the SQU Postgraduate Regulations.
