Functions and Competences
The Academic Publishing Board shall oversee the university’s academic publishing affairs. Specifically, the Board can:
§ Propose academic publishing policies and implement them after obtaining the Vice-Chancellor’s approval;
§ Suggest the rules and procedures of academic publishing and review their application after obtaining the Vice-Chancellor’s approval;
§ Recommend for publication journals, compiled, edited and translated books, and research papers and studies upon approval of referees;
§ Consider applications for launching academic journals and provide pertinent recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor;
§ Approve membership in journals’ advisory boards;
§ Open up effective communication channels within and beyond the university;
§ Urge the university faculty members, their equivalent, and others to publish the findings of their research and academic books;
§ Bring forward suggestions on estimated payment rates for authors and referees and the number of copies authors may receive of their publications, and remit them to the Vice-Chancellor for approval;
§ Encourage consultancy studies as well as authorship;
§ Present an annual report to the Vice-Chancellor on the academic publishing at the university;
§ Consider any other matters which are remitted to them.
