The Department of Computer Science has five teaching computer labs.
Each lab contains 35 PCs running under windows XP environment. Ceiling
mounted LCD projectors are available in all these labs. These labs are
extensively used for teaching.

The
department has one Open Access computer lab containing 64 PCs. These PCs
are configured for both Windows XP and LINUX environment. This lab is a multi-purpose lab used for
student assignments, workshops, tutorials, teaching sessions.

The department has one UNIX lab containing 17 Sun workstations
running the Solaris operating system. Several multimedia-based packages
are available for use on the Unix machines allowing flexible management
of both sound and images. This lab
is used for teaching as well as for student projects and faculty
research activities.

One PC
lab is available for the exclusive use of computer science students.
This lab has 30 Pentium D945 3.4 GHz and Pentium 4 3.2 GHz computers
with 17 inch LCD TFT monitors. Oracle, Exceed, Ethereal and Graphical
software are installed in this lab. Wireless networking equipment is
also installed in this lab.

Four resource rooms are also available for the students working
on their projects. Two of these resource rooms are for the MSc male and
female students and the other two are for the BSc male and female
students. Every project student is provided with a separate PC.

A parallel and distributed computing research lab is available for academic
staff and students. This lab is equipped with a
Linux-based cluster of workstations interconnected by a high-speed
Myrinet network supporting
projects and research in parallel and distributed computing.

A
specialized Multimedia research lab is being prepared. It will be
equipped with all the necessary multimedia hardware and software. This
lab will be used by the faculty for its research activities as well as
by the students. The lab will also be available for Software Engineering
research.

All the labs, as well as faculty and staff offices are connected
to the university wide network and to the Internet.

Other accessories including laptops,
LCD projectors, CD-writers, scanners, color printers, etc are also
available in the department
