The Wedemeyer Award
Dr. Aisha Salim Al-Harthi received the Milldred and Charles Wedemyer Award for Outstanding Scholar in Distance Education for an outstanding article published in the American Journal of Distance Education, in the years 2009-2010 titled "Learner self-regulation in distance education: A cross cultural study”. The award was presented at the the Annual Conference on Distance Teaching & Learning in the University of Wisconsin-Madison in August 4th, 2011.

AAET Award
Dr Ali S. Al Musawi, Associate Prof. of Educational Technology, was awarded the
shield of the Arab Association of Educational Technology (AAET) at the opening
ceremony of its fourth conference held on 13-14 August 2008 in Cairo as part of
complimentary celebration of some Arab World's pioneers of educational
technology; namely, Prof. Fathulbab Abdulhaleem of Egypt who is considered the
founder of educational technology in the Arab World, Prof. Badr Al Saleh of the
Saudi KSU, and Dr Laila Karamuldeen of Egypt.

Arab Commission for Obesity and Physical Activity
Professor Dr. Hashim Al-Kilani was chosen as one of the members
of the Arab Commission for Obesity and Physical Activity. He provided a paper
aimed at this traditional concepts to get rid of obesity through the development
of new and untraditional programs and techniques. The paper was published in
Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity Journal

Distinguished Researcher Award
Sultan Qaboos University was awarded Distinguished Researcher
Award for 2010 to Dr. Ali bin Hoichl Alsaili Associate Professor and Chairman,
Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Based on the charge of evaluating the
files of candidates for the award to some of the most important criteria of
quality of research published on the international level and pattern of
scientific productivity of the researcher and the impact of the results of
scientific publications at the university level and the region.

The Arab eContent Award
Dr. Alaa Sadik, Assistant Professor in the Department of Instructional and Learning Technologies, has won the Arab e-Content Award 2011 for RealShow project in the Inclusion and Participation category. The award, hosted by Bahrain, recognises the outstanding achievements of content producers, application developers and new media providers who use the Internet to make exceptional value for users and are leaders for the region and Arab world. Dr Sadik said that RealShow is a free software and video sharing network. It was developed to facilitate the process of producing and sharing quality and accessible video content for learners in Oman.

Best Design Award
Mr. Salman Alhajri, Artist
and Designer, and teacher of Art Education received the best research poster
award on the Creative Interdisciplinary in Art & Design Research conference,
Loughborough University, UK. In addition, he won a competition as a finalist in
the International Aesthetica Creative Works Competition Art Category, organised
by
Aesthetica Magazine.

Media Arts Prize
Dr. Fakhriya Al-Yahyai has award a prize of the first level in media arts in the
Fine Arts Festival "Qaboos Patron of Peace & Oman Land of Civilizations" Muscat
2010.The festival is held at the Oman Exhibition Center, 14-18 December and it
organized by the Omani Society for Fine Arts.
