The Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service works hard to help realize SQU’s message related to the formulation of academic policies, supervision of the drawing up and execution of strategic plans, and work follow up in the colleges, service centres, libraries, and SQU Hospital. 

Dr. Said bin Ali bin Suleiman Al-Yahyaee was designated SQU Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service on May 5, 2008.

Dr. Said joined the university in 1988 as assistant researcher in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. After he got the doctorate degree in biochemistry in 1995 from Cambridge University, he was appointed as an instructor in the biochemistry department. From 2000 to 2002 he served as the Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research in the college. In 2007 he was promoted to associate professor and subsequently head of the Genetics Department until he was designated Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Community Service.
