The UNESCO Chair was establised within the vision of promoting an integrated system of research and capacity building in marine biotechnology.
The Chair aims to build a center of excellence in marine biotechnology in Oman encompassing a GCC Cluster. The Centre has been functioning as a Hub for Marine Biotechnology and interacting with relevant UNESCO and non UNESCO Centres /networks worldwide.
The unit signed many letter of agreements with different international organizations to focus on collaboration in marine biotechnology, technology transfer, and student exchange. The unit also carrying out different research projects funnded by Omani and international bodies. Besides these, the chai also organized diffeent Regional UNESCO Chairs Meetings. |
