The Arts Credit Programme provides English for students at the College of Arts and Social Sciences These students study their major subjects through the medium of Arabic. 
 
The follwoing courses are offered in the programme : 
 
Lanc 1012 (General English for Arts I) - 3 credits
Lanc 1013 (General English for Arts II) - 3 credits
Lanc 1014 (General English for Arts III) - 2 credits
Lanc 1015 (General English for Arts IV) - 2 credits  
Each course must be successfully completed before a student can move on to the next. All the four courses are offered every semester.

Duration: 1 semester
When it is taken:  1st year
Number of hours per week:  6 
Main level taught:  False Beginner 
 
Course aim: To provide a solid foundation in  English  by covering the basic grammatical and lexical systems of English through  extensive practice of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
 
Materials: New Headway Elementary including audio and video, additional supplementary materials at elementary level, graded readers. 
 
Testing and Assessment:
Lanc1012 - 3 progress tests, 2 listening tests and a final speaking test. 
Lanc1013 - 2 tests (a mid-semester and a final) each with a listening test and a final speaking test.

LANC1014/LANC1015

Credits: 3
Duration1 semester
When it is taken:  2nd  year
Number of hours per week:  
Main level taught:  Pre-Intermediate 
 
Course aim: To develop students’ communicative skills. 
 
Materials: Clockwise Pre-Intermediate, additional supplementary materials at Pre-Intermediate level. 
 
Testing and Assessment:
Lanc 1014 - a mid-semester and a final tests, two oral tests, continuous assessment in speaking.
Lanc 1015  - a mid-semester and a final tests, two oral tests, presentation as a final speaking test.
