The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering provides a high quality program of international standard while being tailored to serve engineering needs of Oman and the Gulf region. The Department is well known across Sultan Qaboos University for its pioneering efforts in Electrical and Computer Engineering Education. Its mission is to provide an outstanding education in Electrical and Computer engineering with a rich diversity of skills, to contribute to the community prosperity through professional services and research, and to prepare graduates able to engage in life-long learning and capable of carrying out the duties of the engineering practice with competence.

The ECE Department has started in 1986 and has graduated many highly qualified engineers, working at  very well known companies in Oman and abroad.  The Department offers a Bachelor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), in four different areas. These are communication and signal processing, computer networks and systems, electronic instrumentation and control and power systems and energy. A Master program of Electrical & Computer Engineering is also running in these four areas and a PhD program will be launched very soon starting from Fall 2009.
