The Mechatronics Engineering Society (MTES) was first established in summer 2005 by the first cohort of Mechatronics students and with the help of the academic staff.

The society consists of four committees: Projects, Publicity, Public Relationships and Activities. Moreover, the society has been working very hard since its first day to accomplish the aims that are expected from it and to gain a good position among the other societies. Recently, the society contains about 80 memberships.

Since this society was started, the members try to achieve their goals to be one of the active societies in SQU, and here are some aims of the society:

  • Provide educational opportunities in the form of workshops, lectures and seminars.
  • Provide information about MCTE major to members and industrial companies. This can be represented by the participation in the Engineering Exhibitions at SQU, Orientation day of the College of Engineering, publishing a magazine about the major and the society, constructing a website for the society, and by representing the output projects of the major to the public.
  • Help the members to apply what they study in society projects.
  • Provide an opportunity for the members to create and design projects so they can improve their skills in their practical academic side.
  • Bring together individuals who are interested in research, design and programming.
  • Provide information about courses and exam papers to overcome the difficulties usually the new students face when they start the specialization courses.
  • Encourage and motivate interest within the society.
  • Make a scientific and entertainment trips for the members.
  • Provide an opportunity for the members to apply their skills in different areas.
  • Participate with other societies and activities in the SQU.
