Course	Eligibility
Courses 1 – 4	1 – 2: Fire Awareness/Fire Awareness (Arabic) – Mandatory for all SQUH employees to attend 3 – 4: Fire Fresher/Fire Refresher (Arabic) – Mandatory for all SQUH employees to attend yearly
Course 5	5: Fire Warden – Mandatory for all department/unit Fire Wardens (pre-requisite: attending a Fire Awareness course)
Courses 6 – 7	6: BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider – Mandatory for all SQUH staff involved in clinical patient contact ie: doctors; nurses; dentists; physio -      therapists; occupational therapists; pharmacists; radiographers; technicians in Clinical Physiology, Opthalmology, Oral Health departments 7: BLS Recertification: Mandatory every 2 years for all above staff, unless undertaking ACLS or PALS recertification
Courses 8 – 13	8:  ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Provider – Mandatory for all doctors and nurses in A&E, ICU/CCU, ANA/Recovery; all doctors grade      Registrar and below in Dept. Medicine; all doctors and shift charge nurses in BMT*; all doctors and nurse-in-charge and deputy nurse-in-charge      in FAMCO*     Optional but recommended for all SQUH doctors not in mandatory group, especially those in CPH and RAD who are involved in high risk      procedures; Nursing Coordinators; nurses in CPH/RAD involved in cardiac stress testing/invasive cardiac procedures 9:  ACLS Recertification – Mandatory every 2 years for all above staff except those marked *, and those in “Optional” category who must attend      a Provider course 2 yearly to maintain certification  10: PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support) Provider – Mandatory for all doctors in CHD; all doctors and nurses in ANA/Recovery and A&E;       all nurses in PICU; all shift charge nurses in 1B, 1P, 2B; all doctors and shift charge nurses in BMT      Optional but recommended for nurses in 1B, 1P, 2B, BMT other than above; doctors and nurse-in-charge and deputy nurse-in- charge in          FAMCO 11: PALS Recertification – Mandatory every 2 years for all staff in “mandatory” category above; necessary every 2 years for all staff  in “optional”        category to maintain certification 12: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) – Mandatory for all doctors and nurses in NNL; all midwives and nurses in DEL ; all shift charge       nurses in 2R        Optional but recommended for doctors in CHD other than NNL; doctors in ANA; doctors and nurses in A&E; doctors and nurses other than       above in 2R 13: NRP Recertification – As for PALS recertification
Courses 14 – 15	14: IV Therapy ( 2 days ) – Mandatory for all new Omani nurses excluding SQU BScN interns 15: IV Therapy ( 1 day ) –   Mandatory for all new nurses joining SQUH, excluding those mentioned above
Courses 16 –24	16: Wound Care Management – Mandatory for all Wound Care Link Nurses; all nurses in surgical wards and OPD; Infection Control Nurse;        Priority for nurses in Medical wards, ICU, A&E; Optional for all other nurses with 1 year experience in units/wards           17: BF/IFHA – Mandatory for all nurses in DEL , NNL, CHD, 2R, 2Y, FAMCO   18: CVC Management – Priority for all nurses in ICU, CHD, Medical and Surgical wards    19: IV Ward Assessors – Priority for all nurse team leaders in units/wards  20: Aseptic Technique Assessors – Priority for all nurse team leaders in units/wards 21: Nurse Preceptor – Mandatory for all nurse team leaders in units/wards; Priority for all other nurses with 1 year experience in units/wards      22: Nursing Process Workshop – Optional for all nurses  23: Pain Management – Mandatory for all Omani nurses; Priority for all nurse team leaders in units/wards; Optional for all other nurses with 1       year experience in units/wards     24: IV Fluid/Medication Calculation Workshop – Mandatory for all nurses who failed the IV Fluid/Medication Calculation Test
Courses 25 – 26	25: 5th Year Medical Students IV – Mandatory for all SQU 5th year medical students 26: 5th Year Medical Students 3 Days Skills – Mandatory for all SQU 5th year medical students
Courses 27 – 31	27: HIS Computer Skills – Optional for all SQUH staff 28: Key Board Skills – Optional for all SQUH staff 29: Typing Skills – Optional for SQUH Omani staff 30: CSSD Technicians – Optional Vocational training – Omanis only 31: Opthalmic Technicians – Optional Vocational training – Omanis only
