Vision   By the year 2015, the department plans to achieve recognition as a center of excellence in teaching and research in Geography in the region and beyond.
	Mission   - Provision of the necessary facilities for under graduate and postgraduate education and research in Geography.   - Encouragement of research related to the needs of the sultanate of Oman.   - Contribution to geographical knowledge and thought.   - Training of geography teachers.   - Contribution to cultural and scientific functions held in and outside the university.   - Contribution to the development of society mainly through consultancy, open speeches and lectures.
	Objectives   - Understand place within a spatial perspective at local, regional and global scales through the application of modern geographical concepts.   - Recognize and analyze the spatial characteristics of natural landscapes and their geographic relationships to humans.   - Have the skills and understanding of tools needed to analyze and communicate geographic information.   - Recognize community problems and collaborate in efforts to solve them.
