   Course objectives:

The objectives was mainly to teach the students how to deel with the preliminary things in different emergency situations as soon as they happen, before they were able to get a doctor or take the patient to the hospital, because the first few minutes are very important to save life.

When this course started, it was mainly for medical students. For the last three years, it included all university students. They take it as an elective couse of two creditis load. From next year, student nurses will take it as a compulsory course as well.

Outline of the programme:

We teach this course combined with accident and emergency department staff plus the training staff department. It is formed of two parts, lectures and practicals.The lectures include different topics, such as wounds, muscle injuries, medical emergencies, burns, fractures, stings and bites, poisoning, and chocking.In the practical, we teach the students cardiopulmonary ressusitation (CPR), how to deal with a chocking patient, and the best positions for a patient.
