Immunization is vital to life, health and well being. It is the National policy to immunize all children under six years of age against nine preventable childhood diseases and all women of child bearing age with Tetanus toxoid to eliminate Neonatal tetanus. The nine childhood diseases are Tuberculosis, Diphtheria, Pertusis (Whooping cough), tetanus,
Poliomyelitis, Measles, Hepatitis B, Rubella and Haemophillus influenza type B.
This clinic caters to the following groups of people:

All staff and students employed in the university and hospital

All the families of staff entitled to receive family health care, provided with a family health card issued by the administration.

Patients attending famco clinic and referred to immunization clinic by the famco doctor.
Clinic activities during the week:
Saturday: Timing –8:15 to 12:30 pm
Immunization for children only. This is usually with prior appointment taken with the immunization clinic.
Mantoux test for tuberculosis will be done only on this day , since the results have to be read for the same after 72 hours.
Sunday: Timing –8:15 to 12:30 pm
Hepatitis vaccination clinic and other Adult vaccinations
Eligibility for hepatitis vaccination:
Titre levels will be checked before vaccination for high risk group and others the vaccination will start at the first encounter itself. Once a vaccination program has been commenced, it must be completed. Once fully vaccinated, titre levels thereafter, need to be checked every two years. For any queries, please ask for the immunization nurse.
This is also by prior appointment .

Tuesday: Timing –8:15 to 12:30 pm
This is exclusively for overseas medicals and their respective immunizations.
Overseas medicals will be entertained only on producing a letter from the administration approving the respective candidate. The overseas certificate explaining the various requirements should be produced to the immunization nurse on the first visit.
Prior appointment is a must.
Wednesday: Timing –8:15 to 12:30 pm
Immunization for children only. This is also with prior appointment.
Children entitled for vaccination in famco clinic
Appointment system
Appointments can be made by calling the famco clinic and speaking to the immunization nurse. Preferably phone calls will be entertained after 2 pm in the afternoon , since the clinic will be busy in the mornings.
