The longest stride has been made in research. Cardiovascular physiology is the main strength of our research activity.The strategic hypertension project is well underway in Nizwa. Apart from the haemodynamics, genetic mapping and linkage studies, this is the first University project to reach out to the community. Three clinics on diabetes, hypertension and lipids are now functioning in Nizwa. Number of Laboratory research projects are going on in the research lab. A study on vascular potassium channels expression in hypertension is active. Also a project studying the effects of combinations of exercise and pharmacological treatments on angiogenesis and left ventricular function is in its final weeks.

The department efforts are bolstered by higly qualified acdemic and technical staff to carry out its mission. We are geared up on all fronts to particpate in promoting  the cause of medical education and research as per requirements of contemporary international standards.
