The minimum requirements that students must satisfy before they can apply for a major

College of Science students can apply for a major usually after two semesters from enrollment to the university if they satisfy by the end of the semester they apply in (or the summer if applicable) the following minimum college and departmental requirements.

Minimum College Requirements:

The student must have a passing grade in three introductory science courses among: BIOL2101, CHEM2101, COMP2101, ERSC2101, MATH2107, PHYS2101, and STAT1001.

The student must also have a passing grade in the English for Science course LANC2050.

MLS	C in BIOL2101 & CHEM2102 . Students with higher grades on first attempt are considered first. Second attempt in courses is only considered if some vacant seats remain.
CHEM	One of: C in CHEM2101 C- in CHEM 2101 & GPA 2.4 C average in CHEM2101 & CHEM2102
COMP	C in COMP 2101 and one of (i) C in MATH2107 (ii) C- in MATH2107 & C+ in MATH1106
ERSC	C in ERSC2101
GEOP	C average in ERSC2101, PHYS2101 & MATH2107
MATH	C in MATH2107 with priority to higher GPA
STAT	C in STAT1001 & one of (i) C in MATH2107 (ii) C- in MATH2107 & C+ in MATH1106
HSTAT (males)	C in STAT1001 & one of (i) C in MATH2107 (ii) C- in MATH2107 & C+ in MATH1106
PHYS	C in PHYS2101 & one of (i) C in MATH2107 (ii) C- in MATH2107 & C+ in MATH1106
MPHYS	C in PHYS2101, C in BIOL2101, GPA of 2.5, & one of (i) C in MATH2107 (ii) C- in MATH2107 & C+ in MATH1106

* Please note that these minimum requirements are being revised and are not applicable to the 2006 or newer cohorts.
