Thesis Registration and Defense Procedures – PhD

 

1.  Student select thesis supervisor with the assistance of the department

 

2.  Form Thesis Committee. Student and supervisor propose the members of the committee

 

3.  Thesis Committee should be confirmed by the student’s departmental board.

 

4.  Student complete Thesis Committee Form (DPS5) and later send to  Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

5.  Student should continuously register for thesis or courses every semester (The maximum period of registration is counted from the date of first registration)

 

6.  All course work should be competed within the first year

 

7.  Student should complete Thesis Progress Report Form (DPS8) and hand in to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies during registration time

 

8.  Two seminars should be given. First seminar is held before the end of student’s first year, and second one is held before the thesis defense

 

9.  Student must undertake a searching oral examination after the first seminar, but before the end of the first year. Student should then complete form (DPS 25) and send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

10. Student should complete Readiness for Thesis Defense form (DPS 15). The form should be signed by all thesis committee members

 

11. Thesis Examining Committee should be formed by the department and approved by College Postgraduate Committee

 

12. Student should provide four copies of the thesis, in temporary bindings, to the supervisor for distribution to Thesis Examining Committee Members

 

13. Student should complete Thesis Examining Committee Form (DPS16) and later send to Deanship of Postgraduate Studies

 

14. Deanship of Postgraduate Studies will write letters to members of the Thesis Examining Committee

 

15. Conduct thesis defense
