In order to explore areas of potential academic and research collaboration between the two universities, Prof. Radka Wildova, Deputy Rector, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic visited Sultan Qaboos University today. At SQU, She was received by Prof. Amer Ali Al-Rawas, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Community Service. They discussed ways to enhance collaboration between the two institutions across several disciplines including education, medicine and sciences.
Before becoming the Deputy Rector, Prof. Radka Wildová served as the dean of Faculty of Education at Charles University in Prague. She graduated as teacher for primary school from the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague at 1987. Since then she has constantly worked in the field of education. She got Ph.D. for research of Content of Primary School Education. Prof. Amer Al Rawas mentioned that SQU would like to benefit from the experience of Prof. Wildowa and other faculty members of the Education Faculty at the Charles University in primary education and special education and related areas.
Currently an agreement is in place between SQU and Charles University in Prague for exchange of medical students. Two medical students from the Czech University is currently studying at SQU’s College of Medicine as part of the student exchange program in place between the universities. In today’s meeting, Prof. Wildowa and Prof. Rawas agreed on extending the collaboration to other fields including education and sciences.
Charles University in Prague, established in 1348, now consists of 17 faculties, and 4 university institutes. The number of enrolled students is 49,236. Charles University is ranked in the top 2% of the approximately 18000 institutions of higher education across the world.
