The Centre for Career Guidance at Sultan Qaboos University hosted a national campaign of the Oman Society for Human Recourses Management today. Through the campaign, 100 candidates were taken to a mock recruitment process. In collaboration with the Oman Society for Human Resources Management and with the participation of 40 human resources managers and specialists in the field of evaluation and recruitment, the students were introduced to the recruitment processes followed in the different work sectors to understand the actual process and know what to expect. Students went through mock aptitude tests and mock interviews during the campaign held today.
The aim of the campaign was to develop the personal abilities of the students and enhance their self-confidence, give them the opportunity to experience the virtual recruitment center which consisted of six stations. At the first station the curriculum vitae of the candidates were reviewed by the recruitment experts. At the second station, the applicants were asked to modify their curriculum vitae.
The third station the "Functional Test Station", administered a test, which is considered as one of the most important criteria for selection for jobs in the private sector organizations. These tests measure the effectiveness of the right side and left side of the brain. At the fourth station, the applicants were interviewed by three specialists. At the “Individual Guidance Session Station”, each applicant could meet a team of experts in the field of human resources to receive their evaluation and accurate advice and guidance on developing the necessary skills to pass the interview. At the last station, “The Group Guidance” candidates were given a lecture, which summarized what was presented in the day and how to make the best use of the event.
This mock recruitment fair was organized as a part of the cooperation between Sultan Qaboos University represented by the Center for Career Guidance and the Oman Society for Human Recourses Management to raise the job awareness of university students and graduates and prepare them to meet the requirements of the labor market.
