On Monday (March 13, 2017), the department of Food Science and Nutrition is organizing a workshop activity entitled "Diet, Lifestyle and cancer Prevention". The event is patronized by the dean of our college. The workshop activity has 10 speakers and 94 participants attending the conference.
The workshop has 3 unique features that make it distinctive:
- Covers newly updated information in the field of nutrition and cancer,
- Provides a comprehensive link between primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of different types of cancer, and
- Combines basic science approaches with clinical practice. We will have 10 speakers from different backgrounds and they will cover a broad range of topics such as: Functional foods, Bioactive components and natural therapeutic agents in cancer prevention & Dietary supplements and cancer risk & Nutrition after cancer diagnosis & Mechanisms and biomarkers in the pathogenesis of cancer & Dietary patterns and cancer & Energy balance, obesity and physical activity–Emerging concepts and strategies for intervention & Antioxidants, Oxidative stress and cancer prevention & Medical aspects (Etiology, therapy and survivorship) in the development of different types of cancers.
