Dr. Murthy started his career as an RBI Research Fellow in Finance at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, India and then moved to National Institute of Bank Management, Mumbai, where he was an Assistant Professor and Area Coordinator of the Monetary Economics and International Finance Group. Later he joined the Oman Institute of Bankers and rose to the position of Director of Research Studies, where he was also the coordinator of the University of Strathclyde MBA Program .
