  •  Provide consultations and guidance for CPS faculty working on research.
  •  Enhance CPS teachers research skills by providing workshops on research and its research methodology and design.
  •  Raise awareness about the available resources for research (e.g. electronic databases, newsletters, books and funding).
  •  Facilitate the exchange of ideas and experience amongst potential researchers from within and outside the university through research symposiums, workshops and networking events.
  •  Disseminate the outcomes of CPS based research by supporting the faculty to present in conferences and publish in journals.

    Dr.Jamila

    Dr. Jamila Al Siyabi 

    Dr. Jamila Al Siyabi has an MA in Applied Linguistics from Queensland University, Australia, a MSc in Educational Research from Exeter University, UK and a PhD in Education from Exeter University, UK on cohesion and coherence in EFL academic writing. She has acquired the LTHE Qualification (Learning and Teaching in The Higher Education Accredited by Higher Education Academy), University of Exeter, UK, 2016. Her main research interests include writing, communication, culture autonomy and inclusion. She is the author and co-author of a number of publications, and she regularly presents insights on her research and teaching practice at local and internal conferences. She is also a peer reviewer at Oman’s Research Council (TRC) in Oman, and is currently working as an external examiner for the general foundation program for two private colleges in Oman. She received SQU’s best researcher award twice (in 2013 and 2022), and was also awarded by the Omani Embassy in the UK in 2019 for her academic achievements.

    Dr. Nauman Ahmad

    Dr. Nauman Ahmed is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology at the Centre for Preparatory Studies, Sultan Qaboos University. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Informatics from the University of Huddersfield in the UK. With 23 years of teaching experience, he has presented papers at international conferences, published research articles in international peerreviewed journals, actively served as an advisor and associate editor for numerous journals and conference boards, trained hundreds of teaching faculty, and provided review services to local and international communities. He has been honored as a distinguished teaching faculty and a distinguished researcher by the CPS, SQU. Additionally, he participated as a panelist and delivered keynote speeches at international conferences. In this interview, he talks to us about how he went through his research journey in his career.

  • Dr.Suad

    Dr. Suad Al Wahaibi

    On 12 September 2006, Dr. Suad officially commenced her professional journey in the Language Centre (Centre for Preparatory Studies), as a demonstrator after graduating from the College of Education with distinction. After getting her MA in Applied Linguistics with honors from Melbourne University, Australia, she committed herself to pursuing excellence academically and professionally. Earning her PhD degree in Education from the University of Sheffield, UK, has further reinforced her ambition in this direction. In this interview, she takes us through how she developed a passion for conducting research despite the challenges she has faced.
