SQU Signs LoU with Yarmouk University

Sultan Qaboos University signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with the Yarmouk University, Jordan to establish institution-wide research collaboration in various fields. The LoU seeks to promote cooperation between the two universities in research and innovation in various fields including arts, science, economics, education, technology, medicine, and pharmacy and quality assurance. 
The LoU was signed in Jordan by Dr. Rahma Al-Mahrooqi, SQU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies & Research, and Prof. Ziad Al-Saad, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Yarmouk University for Academic Affairs. The two parties discussed the possibilities of availing international funding to support joint research. The College of Arts at Yarmouk University expressed keen interest in collaborating in areas related to language teaching, and women’s studies. 
During her visit to Jordan, Dr. Al-Mahrooqi also visited the University of Science and Technology, and discussed possible cooperation with the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Wail Hayajneh, who was very open to collaborate with Sultan University researchers at the College of Medicine and SQU Hospital. From the German Jordanian University, Dr. Al-Mahrooqi met Dr. Safa Shweithat and discussed possible collaboration in information technology and women’s studies. Dr. Al-Mahrooqi said that SQU researchers are encouraged to utilize the agreement in matters related to research in fields of mutual expertise between SQU and Yarmouk University.
