The library offers various titles in different fields and more than 2500 Omani thesis, besides many publications of Oman's governmental and private institutions and some publications from the Gulf region. The library is collecting the all the publications related to Oman and then make it available for students and researchers. 

The Omani Studies Center library building, with its unique design inspired by Omani architecture, consists of several halls: Oman books hall, thesis and dissertations hall, governmental publications hall, and manuscripts hall.

 

About OSC Library

Library location:

The Omani Studies Center Library is located in the first floor of the Center in the Cultural Center Building. 


Objectives of the library:

  • Collecting Omani intellectual literature
  • Preserving this literature and make it available and accessible for users
  • Collecting resources that talk about Oman and make them available for users 
  • Support the spread of knowledge awareness in the society
  • Encourage reading and use of the library resources


Library building:

The Omani Studies Center library building, with its unique design inspired by Omani architecture, consists of several halls: Oman books hall, thesis and dissertations hall, governmental publications hall, and manuscripts hall.

The books hall has two levels (floors). In the first level, there is the reception and the library staff offices. The chairs are arranged on long and glossy wooden tables in the center of the library. On the sides, wood shelves have been installed to facilitate the process of taking and returning books and references without causing inconvenience to the users.

The second level contains round tables and there are single reading cabins in order to offer noiseless place for users.

The library has seven computers for searching purposes, two photocopying machines and scanners to facilitate the work of researchers and users.

Information resources:

The library offers 4000 titles in different fields and more than 2500 Omani thesis, besides many publications of Oman's governmental and private institutions and some publications from the Gulf region.

Classification:
The library follows the Congress classification system, which is used by different university libraries.

Users:

The library is open to all users, whether students, staff, or researchers from inside and outside the university.
