It is an honor to welcome you to the webpage of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established in 1990 with the development of the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. The department is staffed with highly qualified and enthusiastic members offering general and specialized Obstetrical & Gynecological services. The department offers various subspecialty services such as Maternal Fetal Medicine, High Risk Pregnancy, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Gynecological Oncology and Urogynecology. Latest cutting edge technology is deployed to perform advanced Minimal Invasive surgeries (MIS) and high end 4D ultrasound scanners for imaging and diagnoses.

The facility includes 50 beds (26 gynecology & antenatal and 24 postnatal beds), 9 delivery suite beds, 2 triage rooms for obstetrical patients and 2 operative rooms for both Gynecological and Obstetrical cases.

The department offers teaching and training for pre-clerkship, senior clerkship, pre-internship and postgraduate students. Departmental activities are organized weekly including grand rounds, morbidity & mortality meetings, journal club, perinatal statistics and fetal rounds. The department also runs courses and workshops throughout the year including the PROMPT course (PRactical Obstetrics Multi-Professional Training). Three International Conferences were organized in 2013, 2016 and 2019 in collaboration with our colleagues from North America, Europe and Gulf region.
