The department is recognized for managing diverse eye problems, from common to rare sight-threatening diseases with expertise, skill and compassion. Patients are offered the latest technology. 

  1. Teaching

*Medical students

Medical students are trained along the lines of the curriculum of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. The main objective is to train students to recognize, diagnose and manage common diseases of the eye.

Pre- clerkship program and junior clerkship programs

  1. Teaching – Didactic lectures and clinical rotations.
  2.  Assessment - Clinical and written examination.

*Ophthalmology Residents

The Ophthalmology Residency Training Program is conducted under the umbrella of the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB). The program aims to produce competent general ophthalmologists who will have knowledge, clinical and surgical skills and capability of conducting research.

The department is committed to research in basic and clinical ophthalmology. All are motivated to participate and present their work in scientific meetings and publish in national and international journals.
