The Center for Humanities Research seeks to strengthen its role as an effective research platform for producing knowledge and directing it toward serving society and supporting decision-making. It aims to transform research into studies, solutions, policies, and projects with measurable impact that respond to national priorities and the evolving needs of Omani society.
The Center is committed to building a research ecosystem founded on scientific rigor, sound methodology, and objectivity, with particular attention to human, social, and environmental issues. Through evidence-based studies and reports, it contributes to a deeper understanding of societal transformations and supports government entities and other institutions in informed policy development and decision-making.
The Center also works to attract research funding, develop national research projects, and strengthen research partnerships within Sultan Qaboos University, with national institutions, and with international research centers. It recognizes that interdisciplinary collaboration and the exchange of expertise are essential to addressing complex issues and generating more comprehensive and impactful knowledge.
Research capacity building and researcher development are also among the Center’s key priorities. It seeks to provide a stimulating research environment through scientific and technical support, participation in research projects, seminars, workshops, and opportunities for knowledge exchange, thereby contributing to the development of highly capable and sustainable research expertise.
In addition, the Center works to develop research databases and knowledge resources and to strengthen its role as a platform for scientific consultation and specialized expertise. This enables the University’s knowledge to be translated into studies, reports, training programs, and evidence-based solutions that serve various sectors.
These directions are aligned with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, particularly in building a knowledge-based society, advancing research and innovation, developing human capital, enhancing institutional performance, and directing scientific knowledge toward national development.
In conclusion, we believe that a university’s role extends beyond producing knowledge. Its true value is realized when that knowledge is applied in service of society and contributes to shaping the future of the nation.
