The Sustainable Energy Research Center (SERC) was established in August 2017. This center conducts research in the areas related to sustainable energy, including energy production, renewable energy sources, energy policy, energy efficiency and management and energy conversion. The center acts as a bridge between SQU researchers in various aspects of sustainable energy and industry. The center main objectives are:
- Foster a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment for scientists, engineers, political and social scientists, and other concerned stakeholders.
- Undertake independent and objective research to support national, regional, and global interest in areas related to energy resources, energy conversion, energy efficiency, energy transportation, conservation, and optimization.
- Support educational and demonstration programs that encourage the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy systems.
- Educate and train researchers and policymakers through postgraduate degrees and short course programs in the power and energy field
- Contribute to sustainable development at national, regional, and global levels, through social equity, economic efficiency, technology, and policy analysis/research.
